How hands-on training works here

Every fellowship follows the same progression: observe → assist → perform under direct supervision, with each step signed off before the next. Clinical fellows train under Dr. Shweta Agarwal (MBBS, DGO); embryology fellows under Aayush Agarwal, Ph.D., Senior Clinical Embryologist.

  • Logbook: every observed, assisted and performed procedure is recorded and countersigned — your logbook leaves with you as evidence of real case exposure.
  • Patient consent: every patient whose care involves a fellow consents explicitly; the responsible consultant remains in charge of every case.
  • Embryology safeguard: bench skills are built on simulation and non-viable/discarded material first; clinical material only after competency sign-off — consistent with the ART (Regulation) Act 2021.
  • Agreements: confidentiality and indemnity agreements are signed before the fellowship begins.

Frequently asked questions about the fellowship

Who is eligible for the fellowship?
The clinical tracks (Reproductive Medicine, Reproductive Endoscopy) require MD/MS/DGO in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with valid medical council registration. The Clinical Embryology track requires an MSc in life sciences or clinical embryology. These gates are not negotiable — supervised hands-on work with patients, gametes and embryos is restricted to qualified personnel under the ART (Regulation) Act 2021.
How much hands-on work will I actually do?
The fellowship is built around graded, supervised hands-on training: you begin by observing and assisting, progress to performing under direct supervision, and every procedure is recorded in your logbook and signed off. Clinical fellows work under Dr. Shweta Agarwal; embryology fellows under Aayush Agarwal, Ph.D. The pace depends on your baseline skills and our case volume — we are honest about this at the interview.
What durations are available?
Three options: 3 months (focused module), 6 months (standard), and 12 months (comprehensive). Longer durations mean more supervised cases in your logbook. We recommend the duration at interview based on your goals — for example, an OBGYN planning to start an IUI practice needs less time than one aiming to run IVF cycles.
What certificate do I receive, and is it recognised?
You receive a fellowship completion certificate from Aansh Hospital & IVF Center along with your signed procedure logbook. This documents supervised training experience at a government-registered ART Level 2 clinic — often the most persuasive evidence for future employers or for setting up your own practice. It is not a university degree or NMC-recognised qualification, and we say so plainly.
How are patients protected when fellows are involved in care?
Every patient whose care involves a fellow gives explicit consent. All procedures are performed under the direct supervision of the responsible consultant, who remains in charge of the case. Fellows sign confidentiality and indemnity agreements before starting. Embryology fellows progress to clinical material only after competency sign-off on simulation and non-viable material.
